One is Amazon-managed keys. These are the keys that Amazon creates, manages it and encrypts.

Next is Customer managed keys. This is something that you create and manage the lifecycle of those keys.

You can name them, disable or delete them, use them in your personal application.

A customer key store is like a hardware machine that you can have which creates keys for you. And that hardware is dedicated for you.

So this is another option where you want to ensure everything is managed and controlled by you.

Then you can go ahead and create your own key stores and by the Amazon hardware that will be dedicated for you. You can use that hardware to create your keys.

So this is a section where we will be creating some keys our new key will come in.

The easiest way to create the key is all you have to do is get into AWS KMS and create keys.

So if you can also specify a key policy, a key policy is nothing but who can access this key and whether they can modify access to these keys.

Or whether they can put it into disable state or delete state.

So if you don’t specify all those things, what happens is Amazon applies a default set of policies for that key

You can go ahead and start it with a default so just press Enter, it is going to create the key and gives you all the metadata information.

For example, there you will find the key ID which is very important, and see the key state.

The next thing is usually in your applications, what you do is you would want to use the encryption key quite often but you don’t want to have the Enter key I type into it.
